Powering the Future of Micro Cargo Ships
Join us on a journey into the future of maritime transportation, where sustainability, efficiency, and state-of-the-art technology converge to redefine the industry.
Airborne Wind Energy (AWE) System
The “Kite” flies at an impressive altitude of 300 meters. It harvests strong and constant high-altitude winds that occur offshore on 95% of days every around the world.
The kite is sourced from external partners and integrated into the CargoKite vessel through joint collaboration.
Ship hull
Our vessel is designed with a modern catamaran hull form, carefully engineered to provide superior lateral stability. This design ensures smooth and secure sailing even under challenging cross-wind conditions.
By minimizing roll and improving balance, the catamaran structure not only enhances safety but also contributes to more efficient kite-assisted propulsion, making every journey steadier, faster, and more energy-efficient.
Containers
With a nominal capacity of approximately 300 TEU, the ship offers ample room for cargo while remaining agile enough for feeder and shortsea routes.
The container layout is fully customizable, allowing operators to adapt the vessel to specific trade needs—whether that's maximizing standard container loads, optimizing for regional feeder services, or handling specialized cargo types.
Back-up propulsion
The vessel is equipped with a diesel-electric propulsion system, fully compatible with bio-diesel fuels.
This hybrid approach guarantees operational reliability today while ensuring readiness for cleaner fuels and technologies tomorrow.
Autonomy software
At the core of the ship's smart operations lies a suite of autonomy software. This includes precision kite control algorithms, advanced remote steering systems, and intelligent energy management for both batteries and engines.
Together, these systems make it possible to safely and efficiently operate the vessel without a permanent onboard crew.
Digital twin
Every ship comes paired with a sophisticated digital twin—a dynamic virtual model that continuously predicts fuel consumption and optimizes sailing performance.
Running on high-performance computers on shore, the system calculates in real time the ideal steering angles, optimal sail trim, and achievable speed under given wind and sea conditions.

High-
performance design
Crafted from the ground up, our vessel architecture is entirely proprietary—engineered to harness the full potential of kite propulsion. Drawing from the precision and agility of high-performance sailing, we translate elite maritime design principles into scalable solutions for commercial shipping.
But it's more than just a ship—it's a platform. Designed with adaptability at its core, it's ready to accommodate larger kite systems, integrate advanced autonomy software, and transition to alternative fuels—all without major structural modifications. This is performance built to evolve.
Proprietary Vessel Intelligence
Our vessel is built for autonomy from the keel up. At its core is our proprietary kite controller, complemented by a modular, scalable software architecture that enables real-time decision-making, smooth coordination across onboard systems, and secure data handling throughout the vessel's digital backbone.
Seamless hardware integration ensures that sensors, actuators, and embedded electronics operate as a unified system—translating data into action with precision.

Route
Planning Tool
Our in-house-developed system calculates the optimal routes for CargoKite ships based on real-time weather conditions, ensuring efficient and safe navigation. Additionally, it excels in providing highly accurate Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) predictions, allowing for precise planning and scheduling.
Fleet Optimization
Our vessel class breaks with convention. Instead of scaling up, we scale smart—with ships sized at < 1000 standard containers. This shift enables a distributed fleet model where multiple agile vessels replace a single mega-ship. The result: more frequent port calls, faster point-to-point transport, and flexible capacity allocation across trades to match seasonal demand.
Behind the scenes, our coordination algorithm takes orders—each with its own origin, destination, and time window—and dynamically assigns them across the fleet. It's logistics reimagined: responsive, efficient, and built for a world that demands flexibility.
Control & Intelligence Software
At the heart of our innovation lies CargoKite's core Intellectual Property (IP), a game-changer that seamlessly synchronizes the operation of the kite and hydrofoils.
This groundbreaking technology not only ensures their smooth coordination but also maintains full situational awareness for automatic and efficient operation.
